If you wish your email inbox looked a little more like a Russian nesting doll, you’re in luck: you can now send emails as attachments to other emails in Gmail without forwarding them or downloading them first.
As The Verge points out, users can attach as many emails as they like to a message, and they will appear as .eml files. The idea is that attaching multiple emails in one place is handier than individually forwarding several emails to someone at once. To attach an email to another email, simply drag and drop it or right-click it and select “Forward as an attachment.”
“We’ve heard from you that there are situations where attaching emails makes more sense than forwarding separate emails, like wanting to forward multiple messages related to a single topic,” Google explained in a statement. “With this new functionality, you can do exactly that. Sending emails as attachments allows you to write a summary email message to your recipients, and attach the set of supporting emails that recipients can directly open in their mail client.”
Google says they’re gradually releasing the feature, so it’s not widely available to every Gmail user yet. “You’ll know this feature is available to you when you see the ‘Forward as attachment’ option in the three-dot More menu,” the company says.
